Anime Studio Review- Want to make your own anime? Anime Studio Pro or Anime Studio Debut is all you need to get started today!
Anime Studio is, in my opinion, the best animation program out there for your money. To make your money go even farther, here are some free Anime Studio characters and content for you to download and use in your animations. You’ll also find a link to the software beyond this page.
Why Anime Studio is one of the best animation programs out there.
If you’ve used other animation programs (barring Toon Boom, of course), you know what a pain they can be to render your final animation, and do it with television-like clarity. This isn’t the case with AS. Renders are beautiful and seamless, without the white lines that other programs have a tendency of creating around transparent png files you may import into your cartoon.
Stick Figure Animation is simple.
If you’ve been on YouTube lately, you’ve probably seen the stick figure animation videos with their millions upon millions of views. They’re very popular and are extremely easy to create with Anime Studio’s bone rigging capabilities! Imagine the possibilities.
Anime tutorials are easy to find!
Some animation programs have a shortage of animation tutorials, but not Anime Studio. There is such a large community of anime artists using it, tutorials and help is never far away. Plus, there are even websites out there that give away content, just like I do.
Your Anime Studio skills could make you money!
There is a large website where you can sell the Anime Studio content you created, making the software’s already low price tag seem even more attractive!
What features does the software offer? (Some features are only for certain versions)
Shadows
- Adding shadows is as easy as checking a box. Additionally, you can decide between which kind of shadows to add and what part of your scene you want to have shadows.
- You can change the color and shading of the shadow to give your object a spookey, Scooby-Doo-like ghostly glow.
3D Perspective
- A scene can be layered to have a 3-dimensional look to it.
Stereoscopic 3D
- Scenes can be rendered in stereoscopic 3D, which is the kind that you view with the red and blue glasses. These are becoming more and more popular today, now appearing even in online advertising ads.
Styles
- Styles allow you to change an object’s color quickly. For instance, if you wanted to create an additional character of a different ethnicity, but didn’t want to start from scratch, you could open a cartoon character you already have, select the character’s skin style, and pick a color from the color wheel. It will automatically update every skin colored layer in that character, right down to every hand and finger you use as a switch layer.
Animation Program Conclusion
If you’re considering purchasing an animation program, strongly consider Anime Studio. You’ll find its quality to be on par with the top animation program of today, Toon Boom, but without the 4 figure price tag. Anime Studio will most likely fit all of your 2D animation needs.

I wasted money on Boom, and I’ve quit using it. I moved to Anime Studio Pro because it does everything I need, It’s much easier to use, and the reseults are every bit as good as the expensive animation software products. Anime Studio Pro is better than the rest.

I am learning the ropes with Anime Debut 7. I bought Anime 6 last year and left it in the closet because I lacked the time. Then I got an e-mail from Anime, offering a free upgrade to 7. Since then I have been captivated by Anime Studio and are doing my best to master it. Once I have it down pat I will most likely switch to the Pro-version. It´s a great program and has much potential. It takes real work though to learn, but I agree with the comment above about ToonBoom, as once you have the proper knowledge of the bones and their strength and so on, it is much easier.

Bought Anime Studio Debut 7. Worked through the basic tutorial in a couple of hours. Problem: I have lots of ideas for cartoons and animating BUT..all the learning necessary to do theproject is impossible to find. I need a step=by-step tutorial tha takes me through various projects, using various images (for instance How do I use an image from a .png and turn it into an animation.?)
I have googled and searched high and low online for tutorials,,there are a couple on youtube but they don’t address my fundamental issues.
Anyone know where there is an extended tutorial ???

@Gare: You worked through the basic tutorial. Try the 300 page manual listed under Help>Help. It’s very thorough.
You might want to check out my videos. I walk you through how to create a character in Anime Studio.

Just thought you would like to know that the things you make aren’t anime. they’re cartoons. anime have considerably harder eyestyles to make and are better animated as far as mouth movements and everything. also, anime originate from japan, so most of the actual english anime out there were re-dubbed for english people to understand. if the dubbed version isnt out there yet, they have subtitles… some of the common anime out there are yugioh! and pokemon (not poh-key-mohn. it’s poh-keh-mohn). you can also google the word anime and come up with several things including drawings, shows, books (manga. mah-n-gah) divas, and dancing video games. it kinda drives me up the wall when someone calls the crappy american cartoons anime… anime have much better quality and overal better storylines. but yeah.. check it out! i dont mean to sound like a butt… just my thoughts thats all… PAY ME NO ATTENTION!! if i get emails letting me know that a riot has started, i will get mad and purposely sound like a butt… thank you!!! PS: love your tuts!

Joy,Thanks for the comment on the tutorials- I appreciate it.As far as the cartoons go, I know what a sensitive issue it is for some people. Many people hold to the fact that anime is just the Japanese word for animation, while the die hard fans of eastern outsources cartoons stick to that being the only anime in existence. Others use keywords strategically for search engines to find videos on products they make tutorials for- those jerks.
